Almond milk smoothie

This is a variation of a recipe I found on a raw food website.  Almond milk is clearly a favourite among the raw foodies.  Almonds are so healthy and when they are blended with fruits and flavouring they make a deliciously healthy and energising smoothie.   I take a bottle of this with me when I know I am going to be quite active but don’t want to eat a meal between classes.


You will need a blender and a sieve

Ingredients


One cup of almonds (soaked in water overnight or for at least four hours)

3 cups of  water

One large or two small bananas

4 - 6  dates

Vanilla essence

(Vary ingredients according to taste)


Method


Drain and rinse the almonds

Put in a blender and add the water

Blend until as smooth as possible

Sieve the liquid and discard skins

Rinse the blender

Pour liquid into blender and add bananas, dates and vanilla

Blend until smooth
